“As a first year principal, I encountered many challenges. My 24-hour, on-call coach, provided by BKL & Associates, has truly made a difference in the effectiveness of my practice. With her support, I’ve managed to juggle and prioritize tasks while remaining focused on my responsibility as an instructional leader. The coaching I received has inspired me to push harder each day to turn my school’s vision into a reality.”

“The Accelerated AP Cohort Program exceeded my expectations. The resources and discussions were directly relevant to the position of principal. The cohort program provided me a great foundation on which to build as a new principal. The experience was excellent but the network of colleagues has proven to be invaluable. Thanks Dr. Barclay and BKL Associates!”

“My time in the Assistant Principal’s Institute has prepared me to take on the role of principal through consistent coaching, mentoring, and feedback, not only from Dr. Barclay and Dr. Johnson, but from my fellow cohort members. It has forced me to reflect on my life’s purpose as well as my reason for becoming an instructional leader. What has resonated most with me is in order to be an effective change leader, you must be able to influence others through your actions not your words.”

“BKL & Associates, LLC has prepared me to become a strategic leader within Baltimore City Public Schools. The professional development sessions were specific to the needs of our district and relevant to the current trends in education. The guidance, insight and encouragement from the coaches were invaluable. I feel my leadership skills have improved greatly from my cohort experience.”

“The Accelerated Assistant Principals Leadership Institute was intense but rewarding. We took a deep dive into topics like the Common Core, Instructional Framework, Academic Priorities, school culture and engagement and analyzing data. Additionally, we created a portfolio of mission statements, School Entry Plans, communications to families and urgent messages. The projects allowed us to put theory into action by using data to set goals, forming a team to execute the work, choosing high yield strategies to move the work, and monitoring and assessing the success of the work. Every class and every assignment pushed my thinking and forced me to move out of my comfort zone when holding myself, and those I lead, accountable for results.”
