Dr. Gwendolyn Bryant
Senior Educational Consultant
Dr. Gwendolyn Bryant is a retired teacher, instructional supervisor and administrator. She began her career as a teacher in DC Public Schools. She went on to become principal of Maude Aiton Elementary where she is respected for transforming the school from marginal to exemplary performance. From 2001-2003, she served as Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools in DCPS.
After her retirement, Dr. Bryant served as Director of Educational Leadership at Trinity University, where she directs a graduate studies program designed to prepare aspiring school administrators. Presently, she consults with the DC Public Charter School Board and with BKL & Associates.
Dr. Bryant holds a B.A. in Elementary Education/Special Education from Bennett College, a Master of Arts degree inDiagnostic Prescriptive Teaching, and a Doctor of Education degree from The George Washington University in 1973 and 1990, respectively. She was awarded an Advanced Graduate Specialist degree in Special Education from the University of Maryland in 1981. In 2000, Dr. Bryant was honored as recipient of the Washington Post Distinguished Educational Leadership Award.
